Summer Reading Programs

Keep the kids reading this summer with several programs and ideas to keep them motivated!  Help reduce the "summer slide".

Little Free Library
"Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world." The "Take a book, return a book" idea is simple. Add one of your books to the library location and feel free to take one home with you. There are several locations in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. Head over to Little Free Library website and put in the zip code you are in to find a list. This makes for a fun adventure when traveling this summer as well! And keep in mind, not all Little Free Library locations are listed on the website.

Barnes & Noble
Kids can earn a free book by completing the log at this link by September 3, 2018

Chuck E Cheese’s
When students read every day for 2 weeks, they can earn free tokens. Check out the log here.

Libraries Rock Summer Reading Program
This summer's reading program at the Siouxland Library locations begins June 1. Kids can earn prizes for reading books through July 31st. Sign up here.

Tail Waggin Tutors
Read to a dog when you sign up for a session at one of the Siouxland Libraries. Contact your favorite library location to sign up for a session.

Reading at the Park
Grab a good book and find a local area park to read at.  A good shade tree to sit under with a blanket down, a cold drink and your book can make for a fun, new adventure!  Try a new park or location each time you spend time reading.
