November 11th is Veterans Day, an official United Sates holiday celebrating those who have served in the armed forces.
This holiday is one great opportunity to honor those who have served; for their patriotism, willingness to serve and their sacrifice for our country.
It is important that our Veterans never forget just how thankful we are of them.
In celebration this Veterans Day, you may consider having the kids (and parents) write letters and/or draw pictures for our Veterans. No matter simple or elaborate, may they be a comforting message to someone who needs to hear the words, "thank you", "you are not forgotten", "you are not alone", "you are a hero".
You can send your letters and pictures locally to the VA Medical Center at the following address:
Sioux Falls VA Medical Center
Dear: Veteran
PO Box 5046
Sioux Falls, SD 57117-5046
Or you can send your letters and pictures to Operation Gratitude, a national organization looking to lift the spirits of the US Military Services, including it's Veterans. Letters to Veterans are in need. The address is:
Operation Gratitude
ATTN: Letter Writing Program
21100 Lassen Street
Chatsworth, CA 91311-4278
Thank you to all the men and women who have served our great country! Your service will never be forgotten. Happy Veterans Day!
