Free Bowling for Kids this Summer

If you haven't heard of Kids Bowl Free, you are about to learn just how the program may be able to change your summer.  Let's face it, at some point throughout the summer you are going to hear the words, "I am bored".  Take them bowling!  You can almost guess (the way this Spring is going) that you will have a dark, gloomy and rainy day to contend with.  Take them bowling!  Kids stuck on the electronics for far too long.  Take them bowling!

And do it for free! (Well, almost).

Kids Bowl Free is a program that works with select bowling facilities to offer free games of bowling to kids throughout the summer.  Kids can receive up to 2 free games of bowling each day at participating centers. Bowlers are responsible for shoe rental, if you do not have your own bowling shoes you will need to pay to rent a pair.  For example, Empire Bowl in Sioux Falls charges $2.50 for shoe rental for each player. You can also purchase a pass at Empire Bowl for $14.98 + tax that will cover one bowler's shoe rentals throughout the summer.  That is a pretty good deal if you plan to go more than 5 times!  This offer/price may vary by location.

You must register with the program and choose your participating bowling center to take advantage of free bowling for kids during the summer.  Be sure to choose the most convenient bowling center when signing up.  Once you sign up, this is the bowling center you will need to utilize throughout the summer.

Sioux Falls participating bowling centers are:
Eastway Bowl
Empire Bowl
Sport Bowl

Depending on on your chosen location specific program start and end dates will vary, however you will find that Kids Bowl Free starts in May and runs through August.  Registration is open now.

Once you register, Kids Bowl Free also offers parents the opportunity to purchase a pass to cover their bowling if they want to bowl along with the kids while they are there.  This is a completely optional opportunity.

Missy Price with Empire Bowl suggests when coming in to bowl, to make sure that you remember to bring your printed bowling coupon each time you come, or download the app.  If you are downloading the app, Missy recommends that you have your password written down somewhere that allows you quick access to your app, as she has found that many patrons forget their passwords and are then locked out of the app when they are ready to bowl. This is even more the case if another adult or a nanny is bringing the child in to bowl.  Missy says that the app times out, not allowing you to stay signed in after a certain period of time.

Empire Bowl has a vending machine on hand if you are looking for munchies during your bowling game.  The concession stand is not typically open during the weekday open bowl.  Missy indicated that if the pizza concession is not open, Empire Bowl does allow you to bring in outside food.

Kids Bowl Free is such a nice opportunity to register the kids and plan on a few games this summer!
Do I dare say, it is a "strike" when it comes to summer fun?! 🤣
