Sertoma Park Review

Sioux Falls is home to over 80 parks!  Every summer, the kids and I try to visit several parks and look to find one or two new favorites.  But if we are being honest, we tend to frequent the parks that we know and love.  When it comes to family-friendly, not all parks are created equal.

We will begin sharing some of our journeys to different parks throughout the city and beyond.  We will share pictures and information about the park that may be helpful to those considering a visit.

You are encouraged to leave a comment and share your family-friendly opinion of the park or share insight to how your family enjoys a park the particular park as well.

Playground 1 - Sertoma Park
Sertoma Park is one of our family favorites.  There are four playgrounds, offering a little something for all ages.  It is fun to watch the kids get excited as they get to choose a playground to play at.
Note: Multiple playgrounds in different areas can be a drawback if you are the lone parent taking multiple children that need close supervision.  All it takes is two of the kids to run off to opposite parks and you are left with a bit of a situation. Ha.  Just a note to consider.

In addition to playing on tire swings, slides, monkey bars and more, families can enjoy a picnic lunch or bring a treat along to be enjoyed at one of several picnic tables found under the beautiful shelter.  There is also plenty of space to lay down a blanket in the grass and have a nice blanket picnic as well.  Note: At prime days/times the shelter can become busy, so be sure to plan ahead if heading out on a weekend.

We truly appreciate that the park has a bathroom.  A water fountain is available for those times we forget to bring along a water bottle. (Note however, currently the bathrooms are locked and a porta potty is on hand).

The very large geometric dome climber is a fun challenge for the older kids.  Climbing or playing in the chips below are fun options.

Try your voice at the very large echo tube!  Send messages to each other from one end of the tube to the other; sing, whisper, laugh or let it all out with a loud yell.

Give the human sun dial a try and see if you can tell the correct time by extending your hand straight above your head.  These are just a few of the fun activities you will find while visiting Sertoma Park.

Looking for more adventure following your visit, you will find The Outdoor Campus and Butterfly House & Aquarium or right next door.  Or you can access the bike trail from the park for a walk or ride.

All in all a great park for the whole family!
